The teachers (or directresses) at St. Andrew’s Montessori are dedicated to the physical, intellectual and emotional development of the children at the school. The teachers are typically calm and unhurried, they move around the room discreetly and quietly. They are responsive to the needs of individual children, who never have to fight for a teacher’s attention. Vigilance is maintained in a low key way so as to ensure that children do not feel as if they are being ‘policed’. The teachers are pleasant and polite, yet firm. They are able to deal with misdemeanours sympathetically and with assistance rather than punishment.
Teachers at St. Andrew’s Montessori treat children with respect and listen to their remarks seriously and considerately, and children will always be granted a courteous and thoughtful answer.
