Celebrating World Culture Day at St. Andrew’s Montessori

We were so proud to celebrate the beautiful diversity within our school community on World Culture Day – one of the most joyful events in our calendar!

On the 21 May, children were invited to come to school dressed in traditional clothing, bringing vibrant colours and rich cultural stories into the classroom. From saris and kilts to dashikis and hanboks, each outfit told a unique story sparking conversations and smiles all around.

“We believe that nurturing cultural awareness from a young age helps children grow into kind and compassionate global citizens.

Celebrating each other’s differences, while recognising our shared humanity, is a powerful step in that journey.

Throughout the day, classrooms came alive with music, language, dance and cultural presentations. Children explored countries from around the world, shared special items from home and tasted traditional snacks. It was a true celebration of identity, heritage and global connection.

And the event was more than just fun — it offered a hands-on learning experience that was a great example of how curiosity nurtures empathy and respect. By listening to stories, asking questions and participating in traditions, children learned not only about others but about the values that bring us together.

We’re so grateful to all the families who contributed to making World Culture Day such a vibrant and meaningful experience. The joy and pride in our children’s eyes said it all – what a wonderful day of discovery and connection!
