Mayor of Islington, Barry Edwards visits St. Andrew’s Montessori School

On Friday 9th May 2014 St. Andrew’s Montessori School in Thornhill Square were thrilled to be visited by the Mayor of Islington, Councillor Barry Edwards. This came as a result of their fundraising efforts on behalf of Freightliners Farm, Sheringham Road, London, N7 8PF. This lovely setting in the heart of Islington provides a wonderful opportunity for young children to experience a real working farm in action.

The children, parents and teachers were delighted to put together a fun Spring Bazaar selling ceramics, frames, jewellery and much more all created by the children. This combined with a raffle managed to raise a wonderful £1,699.00 towards a very good cause.

The Mayoral visit was a perfect culmination of these efforts and continues to be a favoured topic of conversation amongst the children who were all suitably impressed by his robes and chains! Being aware and supportive of the surrounding community has always been an integral part of the St. Andrew’s Montessori School ethos. The school were so touched by the level of support for their fundraising efforts, the children are justifiably proud of their achievement and look forward to their next event.
