Jeans for Genes Day

On Thursday the 19th September 2014, all the children and staff at St Andrews Montessori were delighted to raise £100.30 towards Jeans for Genes. Jeans for Genes Day provides funding for the care and support of children with genetic disorders through their grant programme.

Genetic disorders are caused by an alteration in DNA. This may mean that either a gene or several genes are missing, repeated or in the wrong order. Altered genes can affect a child’s senses, movement, ability to learn or appearance.

Jeans for Genes together with their supporters put their hearts and energy into raising money that provides care and support for children and families who are affected by genetic disorders. Together we aim to raise awareness and promote understanding of genetics and what it means to be affected by a genetic disorder.
